What to do IF YOU'RE NEW (or NOT)…
Are you new in town? Then you'll love this list of just some of the attractions in the area. Members of the UNNC only wish they had this information when they moved to Uxbridge… First of all, READ "The New Uxbridge Times" EVERY MONTH. It's FREE!!! This will keep you up to date with the current happenings in town. Go canoeing or fishing!! Nature lovers have wonderful swimming/recreational choices at West Hill Dam, Pout Pond, Wallum Lake and Manchaug Lake . Feed fish over the bridge at River Bend Farm with your kids (using fish food, not your kids). It's a great place to fly kites as well. Go rock climbing or hiking at Purgatory Chasm. Mountain bike on beautiful trails between River Bend Farm in Uxbridge and Northbridge. Bring the kids to local parks including Taft Memorial on Henry St, and D'Alfonso Park on Hecla Street Visit KidzKoop in Douglas. A great indoor play area for kids… Visit the Attic Museum. Have fun at the Breezy Picnic Grounds and Waterslides in Douglas near Wallum Lake. Also worth the trip is Spring Lake in Burrillville, Rhode Island which has an arcade and photo booth... Swimming is available at both locations. Golf at Blissful Meadows Shop at The Shoppes at Blackstone Valley in Millbury, Bernat Mill in Uxbridge or Lincoln Mall. Go to the Mendon Drive-In on Rte 16, with the family -- convenient to Uxbridge and surrounding towns. Join a family gym. Whitinsville Community Center or the Hockomock YMCA in Franklin Take an art class at the Bead Room or at Frame Sense's new location on Rte 146A, a music lesson at the Gig Stop or at Grace Notes, or a Yoga class at Yoga Works. Visit to the Blackstone Gorge. Visit "Lookout Point" Northbridge for beautiful views. Visit the Uxbridge Free Public Library with it's interesting staircase down into the children's library. Go biking on the Blackstone River Bikeway in Millbury with the family. Ice skate on local ponds. Ski at Mount Wachusett about 45 minutes away. Cross country ski at River Bend Farm. Visit Southwick's Zoo. Go hunting. Visit historical buildings, cemeteries and WWII memorials. Cut your own Christmas tree at Arrowhead Acres. Take horse riding lessons at local barns such as Letter Perfect Farm. Go strawberry picking at Foppema's Farm in Northbridge. Go Apple picking or pumpkin picking at Keown Orchards in Sutton Take the train into Boston on the Franklin or Worcester commuter rail. Visit downtown Providence and The Providence Place Mall. Go ice skating at Woonsocket's River Island Park or Providence's Fleet Skating Center. Visit the Community Youth center. Go bowling at Sparetime Recreation in Whitinsville or Pinz in Milford. Play pool at The Green Room in Uxbridge on Rte 146A. Sing Karaoke at L'il Texas in Uxbridge also on Rte 146A. Have an ice cream at the Bangma's Dairy Farm on West Hartford Avenue. Visit Vaillancourt Folk Art at the Manchaug Mill Eat and watch a (newly released) movie at the Elm St Drafthouse in downtown Millbury.
